Welcome, I am Mrs. Redman. I am teaching in our Montessori program with Grade 3/4 this year. I am dedicated to helping raise children that will be enabled as they step out to serve as citizens of the world. As a teacher, I see my role as supporting and extending students’ learning that has first begun at home, and that will sustain them through their years of adulthood. The first priority in lifelong learning is literacy skills. These are skills from both language and mathematics. With these disciplines as a strong foundation, social studies, science and other areas of interest can be developed.
Dr. Montessori’s work speaks to me through her dedication of developing the whole child. Through observing the child’s natural strengths and interests as a starting point, skills can be taught to build on intrinsic motivation that will lead to self-initiation and confidence to take risks in learning new things. My desire is to build a learning environment that supports students in their initial stages and then provides them with scaffolding skills to meet greater challenges.
