October 25 - Update for Contact Notification Communication

October 25, 2021

To:  Parents/Guardians and Staff

From:            Cheryl Gilmore, Superintendent

Dear Parents / Guardians and staff of Lethbridge School Division:

Update: Contact Notification Communication

Following a meeting with superintendents, the Deputy Minister of Education and Alberta Health Services last week, we have revised our communication processes regarding contact notification.

ALL Grades

Starting this week, if there is a Positive COVID-19 case in a school reported to the school division from Alberta Health Services, communication will be sent to all parents/guardians and staff in the school containing the following information:

  • The class(s) and other cohort groups (eg. extra-curricular school club or team) with a Positive COVID-19 case
  • The bus route(s) with a Positive COVID-19 case.

Kindergarten to 6  - Exclusion Notification

Exclusion Notification continues to ONLY occur with classes of students in grades K-6. As a reminder, Exclusion Notification occurs if there are three or more cases in a five-day period identified in one cohort group. An Exclusion Notification will advise that the students in that group will move to at-home learning, as per AHS guidelines for exclusion. Exclusion does NOT apply to bus cohorts.

For more information on the number of COVID-19 cases in your school, you can visit the Government of Alberta’s COVID-19 school status webpage COVID-19 school status.

I am hopeful that this will provide some clarity. If you have any questions regarding the communication processes, please do not hesitate to contact your school administration.

Take care,
